what is starbucks' refill policy?

Starbucks' Refill Policy: An Easy and Affordable Way To Stay Caffeinated

For those of us who rely on our morning cup of coffee to start the day off right, Starbucks has introduced a refill policy that's sure to keep us going! The refill policy was put in place to give customers a cheaper alternative for an afternoon pick-me-up. Here are all the details you need to know about this affordable way to stay caffeinated.

The most important detail to note is that Starbucks will only allow customers who have purchased a beverage at their store that same day to refill that drink. In other words, you can't bring in a cup purchased elsewhere and expect it to be refilled – it must come from the same store. However, it should also be noted that if you buy a Venti and then request a Tall – or any size down – your drink can be upgraded at no cost. This upgrade only applies once, though – after that, all additional refills must be the same size as the original purchase.

When it comes time to pay for your refill, there is no extra charge for getting any size of hot or cold brewed coffee or tea. Refills on Frappuccinos and other espresso drinks may incur an additional charge as noted on each store's menu board. It's important to note that all customers' refills must be requested at the register – no refills are available at the condiment bar nor are they allowed through drive-thrus or mobile orders.

In addition, refills should only be available at participating locations across the United States and Canada, however some exceptions may apply (such as those listed in their official policy). Customers should speak with their local store for further clarification.
